Commencement

 

The meeting will begin with a Land Acknowledgement given by the Chair:

The City of Kitchener is situated on the traditional territory of the Chonnonton, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee Peoples.

We recognize our responsibility to serve as stewards for the land and honour the original caretakers who came before us. Our community is enriched by the enduring knowledge and deep-rooted traditions of the diverse First Nations, Metis and Inuit in Kitchener today.

Upcoming 2025 DAC Meeting Topics

This June meeting marks the final DAC meeting before the summer break. The committee will resume in the fall with sessions focused on key downtown initiatives. Tentative topics for discussion include:


September: Charles Street Terminal Redevelopment – project overview and discussion


October: Follow-up Topic – members will revisit a priority identified earlier in the year. Areas of focus may include:

  • Downtown Parking Strategy
  • Downtown Safety Programs

November: The Role of Art – presentation and discussion led by the City’s Arts and Entertainment Industries Team, exploring the impact of art and culture on downtown vitality


Members are invited to provide feedback or suggest revisions to these upcoming topics.
