M. Mills delivered a presentation outlining committee processes and procedures. 

A. Carlyle agreed to send the Code of Conduct to committee members.

Committee members and staff shared their name, why they joined the committee, and their favourite place that they've biked. 

L. Christensen led the committee through the Terms of Reference.

A. Carlyle agreed to circulate the Terms of Reference to ensure everyone has access. 

D. Kropf gave an overview of the responsibilities of the Chair which includes assisting staff in formulating agendas, facilitating meetings, and providing leadership. The Vice-Chair provides support and fills the role of the Chair when they are absent.

The committee came up with the following responses to the question "How will we act and work together":

  • Attend wherever possible – meetings will start on time
  • Review agenda in advance
  • Act as a liaison between the committee and community – share information

Education was identified as a potential area of focus for this term of the committee. These ideas will be included as part of the discussion next month on committee priorities. 

D. Kropf, A. Carlyle and L. Christensen delivered an orientation on common terminology, more information on the organizational structure within the City and the roles of different staff, as well as clarifying what responsibilities would fall under the City of Kitchener, the Region of Waterloo, and the Province. 

Next month, committee members will present the works of the subcommittees from the previous term. Presentations will be coordinated over email.

The City of Kitchener will be celebrating Winter Bike to Work Day on February 14th at 7:30am. The committee was asked for suggestions for potential routes.  

East Avenue was suggested as potential route.
