The Official Plan (OP) is a process that will guide the growth and shape how neighborhoods will change and evolve over the next 25 years. The project will initiate broader community engagement, collaboration and communication by the use of a Community Working Group that is a core component of the community engagement approach for this project. The Kitchener 2051 Block Party in Downtown Kitchener hosted on the Gaukel Block on October 5 kicked off an extensive interactive community conversation along with an online survey for those who could not attend. The Kitchener 2051 project will have 5 distinct Components which includes : Climate & Energy Study Engagement Population & Employment Forecasts Non- Residential Land Use Study Growth Scenarios Study The City will soon begin to review its Transportation Master Plan to align and reinforce with Kitchener 2051 and other tools such as - Complete Streets Guidelines Vision Zero Strategy Cycling & Trails Master Plan The committee was informed of the 4 Major Phases or Timelines the plan would follow.
